Ask first about the formulation role. The buyer may be looking for a surfactant for cleaning, wetting, emulsification, or another defined function, but the role should be described as an application requirement rather than a guaranteed product result. It is also useful to note the surrounding system, such as whether the product will be evaluated in a liquid formulation or another format.

Next, identify the practical handling conditions. Buyers may need to consider storage, mixing, temperature, viscosity, packaging, or process sequence. These are not interchangeable across every product discussion, and they should not be inferred from a generic APG description.

Then list the target information. A specification request may include certain physical or chemical indicators, but the correct indicators depend on the product and use. The buyer should state which information is required for formulation screening, internal approval, or market review. If the target value is not yet fixed, it is better to say that the team is exploring suitable ranges than to present an unverified number as a final requirement.

This sequence—application role, handling context, target information—creates a better foundation for model selection and technical follow-up. It also gives the supplier a clearer basis for explaining what can be discussed now and what requires product-specific confirmation.
